Singing Day 2012

For our 2012 Singing Day Prestbury Choral Society is delighted to welcome accomplished local soprano Angela Rowley to lead us in exploring Karl Jenkins powerful mass for peace. Written at the turn of the millennium, The Armed Man charts the growing menace of a descent into war, interspersed with moments of reflection; shows the horrors that war brings and ends with the hope of peace in a new millennium when sorrow, pain and death may be overcome. In addition to extracts from the Christian Mass, the text incorporates words from other world religious and historical sources.
Angela Rowley is a graduate in German from University College, London, and established a career in modern languages teaching before beginning solo singing training. Angela performs regularly with orchestras and choirs, at Music Societies and lunchtime recitals both in the UK and Europe. Although happiest on the recital platform she is equally at home performing with Choral Societies and Orchestras. She coordinates Harmony '96 choir in Bramhall and is Musical Director of Eccles Singers Community Choir. She is an adjudicator for the British and International Federation of Music Festivals, has a thriving private practice as a singing teacher and runs performance workshops and master classes.
